Welcome to Many Rivers Unschoolers
Many Rivers Unschoolers is an inclusive homeschooling support group for Will, DuPage, and surrounding counties in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. We currently have over 60 families, with children that range in age from infant to teen.
“Unschooling” has many definitions, but in the simplest sense it is a child-led, or interest-driven approach to education. Instead of using a set curriculum and schedule, for example, unschoolers allow learning to happen when and how their children are ready for it.
Our weekly meetings provide space for unstructured play and socializing, as well as many diverse activities, classes, and club meetings. We also participate in field trips and outside classes. Examples of past and present group offerings include anime club, science club, drama club, art classes, craft and cooking demonstrations, an imaginarium/science fair, parents’ night out, game days, fiber arts group, field trips to museums and living-history parks, magic class, gym class, soccer class, homeschool skate, homeschool swim, drama classes, and various teen activities.
